About this fabric

100% cotton. The fabric is woven in France, and printed in Varese, Italy.

The pattern is based on "indiennes," chintz that traveled from India to Europe in the 18th century. It was so enthusiastically received in Europe at the time that its import and manufacture were temporarily banned in France to protect its own textile industry.

Originally, this fabric was used for curtains and upholstery. We procure it and have it sewn into cushions in Japan. As a cushion, you can enjoy this richness of color and intricate detail up close.
