The pattern is based on "indiennes" (chintz) that traveled from India to Europe in the 18th century. These patterns were so enthusiastically received in Europe that their import and manufacture were temporarily banned in France to protect its domestic textile industry.

This fabric is originally intended for curtains or upholstery. Our store purchases it and sews it into cushions in Japan. With a cushion, you can enjoy the multitude of colors and intricate details up close.
