Description

Strength in serenity—a cushion (32x32cm) with inner filling, featuring a Raishin (Thunder God) design motif crafted with Kyoto Nishijin-ori. This piece subtly incorporates Japanese aesthetics into your everyday interior.

Product Features

The motif is inspired by the National Treasure "Wind God and Thunder God" by Tawaraya Sotatsu, an early Edo period painter. The bold composition and dynamism emblematic of Japanese art are expressed through the delicate weaving unique to Nishijin-ori.

The deep, rich texture created by gold and silver threads subtly changes with the light, bringing elegance and presence to any space. The reverse side uses a thick, high-quality fabric, and the slender piping tightens the overall look, creating a sharp impression suitable for a sophisticated adult space.

Recommended for these scenes

While a traditional craft, it blends naturally with modern sofas and urban interiors, acting as an accent piece much like a work of art. This "Neo Japanesque" piece is not merely traditional Japanese, making it perfect for those who wish to subtly incorporate Japanese aesthetics into their everyday interiors. It's ideal for your own home, as well as a gift for international guests or for creating an inviting atmosphere. We also recommend pairing it with the Wind God motif.

About Nishijin-ori and Tawaraya Sotatsu's "Wind God and Thunder God"

Nishijin-ori is a representative traditional Japanese textile passed down in Nishijin, Kyoto. The name "Nishijin" is said to originate from the fact that artisans gathered at the site of the Western Army's camp after the Onin War (1467-77) to resume textile production, and its techniques have been refined for approximately 550 years. Its intricate brocade weaving, incorporating gold and silver threads and foil, is considered the pinnacle of silk textiles. The motif, "Wind God and Thunder God," is a National Treasure by Tawaraya Sotatsu, an early Edo period painter, and is one of the masterpieces representing Japanese art.
